Miradouro do Guindaste
A must see with panoramic views of the north coast of Madeira, including the cliffs and the Atlantic Ocean.
Located on one of the slopes of the mouth of Ribeira do Faial, in the municipality of Santana, the Guindaste viewpoint offers a breathtaking view over the outline of the coastline of the north coast of Madeira. It is the ideal place to contemplate the beauty of the Atlantic Ocean that bathes the island.
This observatory is known for the unavoidable beauty of its surroundings. It is an idyllic setting, marked by the harmony between the verdant mountains, the imposing cliffs that mark the coastal geology and the clear tone of the sea waters.
From here, visitors can see the pebble beach at Foz da Ribeira do Faial and the peculiar geological structure next to it, a prismatic or columnar disjunction, resulting from lava flows. This rock formation is a unique natural spectacle on the island of Madeira and a point of interest for the most curious visitors.
Likewise, the Guindaste viewpoint also allows you to extend your gaze over a very complete panoramic view of the north coast of Madeira, which runs from Faial to Ponta de São Lourenço, at the eastern end of the island of Madeira, passing by the monumental rock formation of Penha d 'Eagle. On days with very good visibility, it is also possible to see the island of Porto Santo, to the northeast, from this observation point.
