With a medium difficulty, the trail has an estimated duration of 6h30.

The beginning of the Levada do Caldeirão Verde is marked by the Casa de Abrigo das Queimadas, in the Parque Florestal das Queimadas, which maintains the original characteristics of the Typical Houses of Santana, triangular in shape and with the traditional thatched roof. Shortly after the start of the trail, hikers find the esplanade of the Levada do Caldeirão Verde, where nature reveals itself with exoticism.

The Levada do Caldeirão Verde crosses the Laurissilva forest, where abundant water is routed through this historic levada, built in the 18th century, to the agricultural land of the parish of Faial. Along the trail, which is punctuated by escarpments and mountains, hikers pass through four tunnels carved into the rock.

After an exciting walk, hikers find the Caldeirão Verde lake on the left, formed by the water that projects vertically from the bed of the Ribeiro do Caldeirão Verde, about 100 m high. With their energies recovered, hikers can continue to Caldeirão do Inferno, at 2200 m, or return along the Levada do Caldeirão Verde. The beauty and exuberance of nature make the Levada do Caldeirão Verde trail one of the most popular and fascinating in Madeira.
